SMALL BALL KICKING

Instruct the athletes to stand facing a coach or parent with about three yards of open space in between. Instruct the athlete to try and kick the ball (with either foot) to the parent or coach (out of athletic position). Athlete will probably try and kick ball with tip of shoe or toes. That is OK. The object here is to get the athlete to begin kicking the ball in the desired direction. If athlete is not interested or cannot kick the ball, have parent or coach kick the ball to the athlete so that it creates a “crash” into the athlete’s feet or legs, making it “funny” to crash the ball into the athlete.
