BALANCE ROPE

Instruct the athlete to stand next to the end of a short battle rope. Have the athlete begin to begin walking on the rope without touching the surface below. The athlete can use whatever method necessary to walk across the rope. Instruct the athlete to try and point the toes in the direction the walk is taking place. As a progression, instruct the athlete to try and take steps while connecting heel to the toe of the foot that is in front. Have the athlete repeat that until the end of the rope is reached. Athletes can also attempt to walk the rope facing sideways, all the way through the rope, then change sides on the following walk. If there’s time after several reps, you can instruct the athlete to try and jump from one side of the rope to the other with feet together and keep going. Start at one end and continue to the other end of the rope.
